When Tirtouga’s first fossils were found on land, it was believed to be the result of continental drift. It only became apparent that Tirtouga hunted on land when one was found with Cranidos-shaped dents in its shell.

Carracosta’s shell is extremely tough, using air pockets within its indents to keep buoyancy. Carracosta would hunt in the deep sea by grabbing prey and pulling it up to the surface before it could adjust.
