Aristocrats kept Slurpuff around to protect themselves from poisoning. Slurpuff can smell a single drop of poison in an entire feast, so the nobles wouldn’t touch anything if Slurpuff refused to taste it. Nobles spent a lot of their time malnourished from not eating enough greens.
