Munchlax’s long fur is apparently full of bacteria and yeasts that are great for fermentation. This helps explain why it sometimes hides food under its fur, when normally it eats everything immediately.

Snorlax’s cast-iron stomach can be put to work reviving polluted brownfields into fertile farmland. However, they are tremendous pests near humans: they overturn dumpsters, break into landfills, and terrorize picnics. Food trucks can’t be insured against Snorlax.
