Mudkip eggs can wash up on riversides or beaches. River Mudkip spend more time on land than their beach counterparts, tracking mud all over the place. This makes the soil especially fertile, so Grass-Types rarely battle them.

Beach Marshtomp stake their territory on the shore where the tide goes back and forth. They love to feed on Water-Types that get stranded when the tide gets low.

Swampert live wherever they please, digging up underground streams if there isn’t already a water source nearby. If a river or beach isn’t muddy enough for them, they’ll change the current by hurling boulders around.
